How to choose the Right Cologne
How to choose the Right Cologne

You are all dressed to go to the party or on your date, dressed appropriately for the occasion. The last thing you would want to put on is your signature perfume or cologne. Colognes can set you apart from the crowd and also attract the fairer sex towards you. Colognes are regularly used by men even while gong to their workplace and is considered a fashion statement. Hence it is very important to consider a few points while choosing the right fragrance.

How To Choose The Right Cologne:

Cologne is a very personal issue. It is like your signature and way of conveying your taste to the world. The easiest way to choose the right cologne would be to take a lady with you, who you consider stylish and of good taste. You would be wearing the cologne not just to smell good but also to get the fairer sex closer. However do not accept a fragrance that you dislike or are not comfortable with. With the mind boggling range of fragrances available, there surely would be one that both you and your adviser like.

The best way to judge your liking of a fragrance is to spray different colognes on cards or paper individually. Spraying it on your wrists mixes up the fragrance after the 3rd or 4th spray and not give the idea of the exact scent you like. Smell each one individually holding the card a few inches away from your nose. Choose the one you are attracted to first.

Mens fragrances come in three types the spicy fragrance signifying masculinity, the clean and sophisticated slightly strong fragrances and the energetic citrus. You can even use variants by pairing colognes for the special occasions. Take care not to mix scents that are averse to each other.

Choosing The Right Fragrance:

Today almost every product that you get from the market has a fragrance mixed in it like bathing soaps, aftershaves and deodorants. Although mild, they do leave a trail behind. The end result is a mix up of varied scents producing an uncomfortable outcome. Hence it is recommended to use products that have similar smelling fragrances. Your signature cologne can be slightly stronger to make it stand apart. Spraying a small amount of cologne would suffice as excessive smell, even if only of the scent, could repel people.

Change your cologne as per the season. The thumb rule is using lighter scents in winters and slightly stronger ones in summer when you have more sweating. Colognes are applied directly on the skin and hence check for the areas to be applied and test you skin with a mild spray before investing in it.

The prices of colognes are quite high and so buy the right one after proper evaluation. The cologne should not only suit your senses but your lifestyle and dressing patterns too. A spicy fragrance may not blend well with neutral shaded outfits and the clean and sophisticated colognes will not suit a T shirt and jeans guy.

Tomer Reiser is the founder of RnBstyles a stylish mens jewelry accessories brand and site, offering unique Leather Bags for Men, Stainless Steel Jewelry, Tungsten Rings and more.

How to Buy Native American Jewelry
How to Buy Native American Jewelry

It is an unfortunate fact of life that unscrupulous people make money by cheating others. They are everywhere not lurking in the shadows, as you might think but right out in the open, brazen as can be. These dishonest retailers lay in wait for those of us who innocent and wide eyed with delight, gaze star struck upon the object of our fancy from a dazzling array of gorgeous bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and rings masquerading as genuine Native American jewelry.

Our excited anticipation is a dead giveaway to the scammers! We are vulnerable to their cunning, wicked ways. They sense a deal almost like radar, and move in for the kill! Another unsuspecting collector adds a non authentic piece of jewelry to her Native American jewelry collection. As magnificent as this jewelry may look, its fake, faux, counterfeit just plain phony. It does not have to happen to you. It is important to know how to buy Native American jewelry and what to look for.

As jewelry collectors, we have a deep inborn appreciation of wearable art. We are drawn to beautiful jewelry as we are to food and water. We are enamoured of the age old craft of jewelry making, the romantic heritage. We are captured by the magnificence of earthy corals, lapis lazuli, shell, onyx, carnelian, and turquoise strung upon wings of gleaming silver lavish, magical, heavenly jewelry that is distinctively Native American. The copycats are good. It is so easy to be fooled, especially if you are new to collecting Native American jewelry. However, there is a significant amount of money involved, and the integrity of your collection is at stake. Armed with some basic shopping guidelines, even a novice collector can avoid being duped. Here is a guide on how to buy Native American jewelry, the right way.

Tips on How to Buy Native American Jewelry

1. Buy from an established dealer who offers written guarantees and Authenticity Certificates look for the Authenticity tag on the item.

2. Request a written guarantee and have the seller write the complete description of the item on the receipt including authenticity verification. Have them include, in writing, any verbal representations they made to you getting all this in writing is of paramount importance. The receipt then validates your purchase and is certain proof should you find out your piece was a fake and decide to charge the retailer with fraud. The Certificate of Authenticity means that the item is certified by the Department of the Interior DOI

3. Before buying Native American jewelry at Pow Wows, fairs, craft shows, juried competitions and other events, check for the events requirements and criteria for participation. You will find this information in newspaper press releases, flyers about the event, and printed programs for the event. For example, the show producers may not have a requirement for the vendors to sell wholly authentic products.

4. It is also essential to be aware that not all Indian made jewelry is handmade. Legitimate Native American jewelry is produced in the handmade style where the individual artist has complete control over craftsmanship, design, and quality of the piece. Other jewelry may be mass produced by a number of Indian artists, each sharing in building the final piece, rather like an assembly line. Also, keep in mind that some elements used in creating the piece may have been produced elsewhere. Indian jewelry may also be machine made with little or no artist input whatsoever. These three methods are all utilized in the production of genuine Native American jewelry.

Please note Under the Indian Arts and Crafts Act of 1990, any item produced after 1935 that is marketed using terms such as Indian, Native American, or Alaska Native must be made by a member of a federally or state recognized tribe, or a certified Indian artisan. A certified Indian artisan is an individual who is certified by the governing body of an Indian tribe as a non member Indian artisan.

The Act requires full compliance, and all Indian arts and crafts including jewelry, must be truthfully marketed. Words and connotations have weight in the Act, and heritage, ancestry, and descent are words taken very seriously. These words and their meaning may be used in advertising only when true.

The best advice for identification is to use your intuition along with the following guidelines: When buying authentic Native American jewelry, its definitely buyer beware, and if your intuition tells you its fake most likely it is. These crafty cheaters are good, but they do make mistakes.

Here are a few key things to watch out for when buying Native American jewelry:

1. Price Although inexpensive novelty items are available from Indian craftspeople, authentic high quality Native American jewelry can be very expensive. Expect to pay a premium price for premium art.

2. Materials Most Indian artisans use a few select materials when creating their masterpieces. Gemstones and organic materials such as turquoise, coral, and carnelian inlaid into silver, are a trademark of fine Native American jewelry. You will also see onyx, shell, lapis lazuli, spiny oyster, and opal used.

3. In well crafted Native American jewelry, only high quality stones that are well cut and uniform in size are used, and they always fit snugly into their settings. Poorly cut stones revealing metal colored glue visible between the stone and the metal, is a sure sign of an imitation. Many Indian artists use a hallmark stamped into their jewelry to identify their work. Look for a symbol or signature of the artist.

The three key components that determine the value of Native American jewelry are harmony of the design, quality of craftsmanship, and the materials used. It is important to know about the materials and production terms used in the jewelry you add to your collection for a number of reasons. Knowing how the stone was treated to achieve its special look enhances ones appreciation of it. The quality of the metals used are an important indicator of the investment value of your piece. It is also fascinating for a collector to truly understand the jewelry they have in their possession. So, in addition to knowing how to buy Native American Jewelry, it is helpful to understand the components of authentic Native American jewelry when you find it.

Silver is the most common metal used in Native American jewelry. It contains 92.5 parts silver and 7.5 parts other metal.

2. Coin Silver Metal containing 90 parts silver and 10 parts other metal. How do you clean rust from metal jewelry
How do you clean rust from metal jewelry

What is the metal? Sounds like either pot metal, copper or brass. If its brass the green stuff is not good for you. You can clean copper with anything with a light acid base like vinegar, ketchup, lemon juice. you have to leave it on there a while. Some suggest with these items that you use salt as a light abrasive. None of these things would hurt metal. If there is a stone in the metal that is a different story. Soak the rusted material for as long as it takes to turn all the rust or whatever into grey sludge could be a week or more for heavily rusted metal, and then rinse/scrub it off with clean water. The mixture takes away the rust and leaves the metal.I thought it was a joke when I first heard of this method, so I tried it on some old car parts, and was surprised how good it worked. Also molasses wont harm you. Horses eat it, so you could probably get it at a pet or farm supplier.

Gold and Silver Safekeeper Mirrored Jewelry Cabinet
Gold and Silver Safekeeper Mirrored Jewelry Cabinet

The Gold and Silver Safekeeper Mirrored Jewelry Cabinet by Lori Greiner is a great multifunctional piece of furniture. The product has a full length mirror which tilts so that you can set it at the perfect angle. It also has hooks and pockets to hold all of your jewelry. This product comes from QVC and can be purchased for $144. The product would fit well into a classically decorated bedroom. It comes in three finishes: white, oak, and cherry. I purchased the cherry finish and it is a rich, red color.

This cabinet is 56 x 16 inches so it is plenty spacious to store all of your jewelry. It has 24 necklace hooks, 12 bracelet hooks, and one bracelet rod. There are spaces for 90 pairs of earrings and 91 rings. Seven lined shelves hold the extra things that do not fit on the hooks.

The cabinet is made to be safe for all jewelry types. Inside, it is lined with a sliver Safekeeper anti tarnish lining that is designed to keep silver from tarnishing for 25 years. This lining really seems to work as I never have to clean my jewelry anymore. What a time saver!

The product has a key lock but I assume it would be pretty easy for thieves to break into. However, the lock is nice for keeping children and pets out of the cabinet. I find that the door opens a little if it is not locked so I lock mine and leave the key right in the key hole.

I really love the way this cabinet helped me to organize all of my jewelry into one place. I no longer have to search through boxes and bags to find what I am looking for. I find that I wear all of my jewelry now instead of just the stop that was in the easiest to access boxes before. I used to store my jewelry in several boxes on my closet floor. With this cabinet, I can stand up instead of sitting on the floor while I look for what I want. It saves me a ton of time in the morning while I try to match my necklaces to my rings to my earrings and so on.

This product is definitely worth it if you have a lot of jewelry to store. It assembles easily and makes a great addition to your bedroom. The full length mirror is handy to have for when someone else is in the bathroom.

Free Pattern for a Rag Crochet Necklace With Wire
Free Pattern for a Rag Crochet Necklace With Wire

This necklace was my first attempt at rag crochet jewelry. This version has three wire wrapped pendants; a large teardrop shaped pendant is the focal point in the center, and its surrounded by two smaller pendants, one on either side.

While Im pleased with the way this necklace turned out, I do think the version with five pendants is even nicer. I suppose thats a matter of personal preference; this version is a bit lighter, and also a bit less expensive. So, I figured Id give you the option of making both, or either, version if you like; Ive posted the patterns for both versions of the necklace.

Fabric, Matching Thread, and Sewing Machine or Needle: I used strips of a colorful batik fabric to crochet my necklace band. This fabric has spots and dots of red, pink, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. My fabric strips were purchased in the type of bundle that quilters refer to as a jelly roll. The brand is Stripz.

My fabric strips were already pre cut into pieces measuring about 2.5 inches high by about 46 inches long. I cut them in half again the long way so that my pieces measured about 1.25 inches high; then I sewed bunches of strips together to make a rag ball. For this particular project, you dont need an entire rag ball; a piece measuring about 122 inches long will suffice.

Traditionally, rag crochet strips are cut on the bias, meaning in diagonals. Cutting them on the bias helps to cut down on the problem of frayed edges. The stripz fabric strips are not cut on the bias, and the edges do fray significantly. To fix that problem, I folded the edges in towards the center, then folded the whole thing in half again, then stitched the folds together using my sewing machine. A sewing machine isnt a necessity; Ive made similar rag balls on the road by hand stitching them. It takes much longer, but its doable. In either case, my resulting fabric strips measure about 1/4 inches after stitching.

You dont need to buy Stripz to do this project, although its a nice shortcut if you do. If you dont, youll need to cut your own fabric strip measuring about 1.25 inches by 122 inches.

Crochet Hook: I used a size K hook to crochet these necklaces, but you can use the hook of your choice. The most important thing is that your hook is a comfortable size for you to work with your fabric strips. The K, for me, was actually a little on the small side, but I didnt have a bigger hook handy when I was working on this project.

Pendants or Embellishments: Youll need 3 wire wrapped glass pendants, or the pendants / embellishments of your choice.

Gauge: 4 inches = approximately 9 ch sts.

Finished Size: This pattern is designed to be one size fits most. I made my sample necklace about 46 inches long including the ties; the ties are extra long and a bit could be cut off the ends, depending on the wearers neck measurement. The crocheted area measures about 15.5 inches.

Abbreviations Used in This Pattern:

ch = chain

st = stitch

Thread your three pendants onto the fabric strip and push them about 16 inches or so down the strip.

Decide how long you want your ties to be. I made mine about 12 inches, which is a bit excessive; yours can be shorter if you like.

Leaving the length for your ties unworked, make a slip knot in the spot you want to begin crocheting.

Ch 15. Slide the nearest pendant right up close to the work, ch 3, slide the next pendant close to the work, ch 3, slide the next pendant close to the work, ch 15. End off by pulling the rest of the fabric strip through the active loop.

Etsy Interview with Noushy
Etsy Interview with Noushy

First off, tell me a little bit about yourself. Im the creator of Noushy, an Etsy shop full of jewelry. Im a university student, and crafting is my respite from academia. On those long, lonely, caffeine filled last minute essay writing nights, creating replenishes my sanity. I grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia, and moved out to Ontario a few years ago for school. I have two kitties, one lives with my mom in Vancouver and one lives with me. She is a delightful thorn in my side, always batting at my loose pearls and beads and knocking them into dark corners where the vacuum cleaner more often than not finds them. I dont just enjoy making jewellery; I also dabble in oil painting, knitting, crocheting and creative writing. I started adding items to Noushy about a year ago, and Ive had great results and awesome lovely customers.

How and when did you start making jewelry and your other items?

It all started when I was just a young troublemaker of oh, lets say, three or four. Id always be tinkering with my hands, maybe tearing my toys apart to see how they worked, or tying colourful strings into collars for my cat she wasnt a fan. Someone taught me how to knit when I was 11, and that just further encouraged me to create. Its those hours and hours of marveling at all the goodies on Etsy that eventually led me to create Noushy.

What is unique about Etsy and what about the website do you like the most in regards to your shop?

I love that I see if people have viewed my items, its a lovely feeling especially if they favorite an item. I love the layout of Etsy, and I love that I can go into forums and promote my shop, or ask for help, or post pictures of my favorite pieces. Its very much a community unto itself.

What inspires you the most in regards to your creations?

Inspiration for Noushy can come from anything. Magazines, books, twigs and leaves, birds and bees. Most of the time I let my imagination go wild and draw inspiration from doodles I mindlessly draw.

What is your favorite piece youve created and why?

Oh, you are a clever girl with your questions. How can I pick a favorite? I love all my little babies. If I had to pick one, maybe my Emma Emmeline earrings. Theyre just so ME. Theyre quirky and fun and a little chic, totally unconventional. I love the spotted red feathers, and I adore pearls.

What do you want to accomplish with your online shop?

I dont want to get rich. I dont want to become big and branch out or anything fancy like that. Id like this to be my full time job, sure. But I still have a long way to go, and a lot of things to learn before then. I just love the thought of someone in France, or Australia, or Mexico wearing something that I created. I like that I can make a few dollars doing something I love. Isnt that everyones dream? I just want to share my craft with whoever wants a piece of it.

Do you have any new creations in the works? If so, what can shoppers expect to see from you soon?

Im always dreaming up new ways to top my other designs. Inspiration usually comes out of nowhere, Im not one to plan ahead. It might be tomorrow, it might be a month from now. In any case, Ive ordered some new gems and when they arrive Im sure to come up with something awesome.

Where can readers find out about more information regarding your jewelry and other creations and possible special offers including additional websites, blogs, facebook, etc?

Uh oh; heres where I fall a little short. Im not one to facebook, or twitter, or blog much. Maybe I should get a blog started one of these days, when I have more time. But mind you, I love Etsy conversations! Sometimes I get requests to create something with a different sort of metal or different colour, and sometimes people just convo me to ask for more detail about a certain piece. I love that! I encourage that. Convo me, ask me how my cats doing her name is Bebe Von Fancybottom, if anyone should like to know and how my pieces came to be, and why I use certain gems or stones.

And lets call this interview done, because I do believe thats a pearl the cats furiously tossing around. Thanks, and check out my shop Noushy, theres a crazy HALF PRICE sale going on :

Published by Rachel B.

Rachel B. is a college student from the Midwest with a passion for political and local issues. Dream in Purple Necklace
Dream in Purple Necklace

What supplies and materials did you use? The supplies and materials used for this necklace are small pliers, thin silver metal wire, metal string, beading wire, a sterling silver necklace and different beads.

What techniques did you use? My original thought was to make a Y necklace, and as my favorite colors are purple and blue, I decided to combine purple, blue and coppery brown colored beads. I took the sterling silver necklace, and attached the small and larger beads to both of its ends with the help of knot hiders. I tied the ends with a large silver hoop. Then I took the metal string hooked on both ends and attached the large flower bead combined with the dark purple one in the middle onto it. The next step was to attach this combination to the hoop. The I took a small purple bead, and tied it onto the hook with silver metal wire. I continued doing so by attaching a row of two pieces of chains and beads. The necklace opens and closes right at the linking large hoop.

Lessons Learned By making this necklace I learned how to work with metal wire and chain combinations effectively, and how to design a chain and bead necklace, so that it looked stylish and chic.

Why is this such a favorite jewelry piece? This necklace is not only easy to make, but also looks pretty either with a casual or a sophisticated outfit. Following the rules of asymmetrical symmetry, it follows the trend by remaining a classic piece.

Desert For The Birthday Party
Desert For The Birthday Party

Historical Egypt is a fascinating location all these years later. From mummies and pyramids to pharos and scarabs there is plenty of fuel for the fascination pyre. Maintain in thoughts nevertheless, the objective right here is for the children to get an excellent time, to not be frightened so keep the scary things to a minimal if possible even if your child is brave to a fault that doesnt mean that some of the guests will not be frightened and you would like the experience to become pleasant for everyone.

Decorations for this are not as challenging as you might think. Actually, some of these decorations will double fairly nicely for Halloween or might already be in your Halloween stash. First of all, in the event you have a canopy or tent lying around this will make an outstanding substitution for a pyramid. You can fill your canopy or tent with relics which are authentic looking for what would be within an Egyptian pyramid. Use skulls leftover from Halloween decorations on the ground, gold coins or doubloons, which could be purchased rather inexpensively at many celebration supply stores, sequins that look like jewels, and fake jewelry that might have been worn throughout the period. Needless to say the piece de resistance will be the mummy wrapped within the corner if this is not component of ones Halloween stash it ought to be following this.

Now, what self respecting mummies house doesnt have an excellent curse to go along with it? Before permitting the guests into the pyramid you need to make certain they are aware of the curse that goes along with it. It is a fun little addition to the theme and a large amount of fun to watch their eyes as you tell the tale of the mummy within and why the tomb is cursed.

If you are nonetheless looking for outstanding activities you can bury treasure in your sandbox in the event you have one and let them all get turns digging up treasures and/or artifacts that they can get house with them. Make sure everyone has at least one turn and gets one thing to get house from your digging.

You can either barbecue dinner or purchase pizza or some thing easy for dinner. I recommend letting the guests eat within the pyramid for fun if it is not as well terribly scorching and allow for a displaying of the Mummy afterwards provided the viewers is outdated sufficient and interested. You could also allow them to play within the tomb for a although or make it an overnight event and allow them to camp within the tomb if it is a tent.

Fantastic goody bag gifts include flashlights, glow sticks, spiders, chocolate coins, stickers, along with other candy jewelry. One great game for an Egyptian themed birthday celebration would be wrap the mummy. Divide the children into groups of 3 and have them get turns racing to wrap the mummy a member of the team in toilet paper. Do this to ensure that everyone has the chance to become wrapped just be sure to use the low cost brands of toilet paper for this specific project and plan on having plenty in case they get a little overzealous.

Most importantly you would like to plan an event that is fun to take part in and that will have all of your guests eager to arrive back for the large birthday bash subsequent year. Just remember you will be expected to leading the present theme and might acquire a popularity for throwing the cool parties.

Canyon de Chelly National Monument
Canyon de Chelly National Monument

Canyon de Chelly is quite unlike Monument Valley. Where Monument Valley is stark and golden desert, Canyon de Chelly is pink and warm. It is one of the most appealing of Arizonas canyons. This park boasts towering sculpted rock formations, sheer and colorful cliffs, and picture postcard scenery. It is inhabited both by modern day Native Americans and memories of ancient ones. 1350, abandoned their dwellings forever. Their spirit infuses the ruins within the canyon walls. Hundreds of ancient communities, many of them poised on sandstone ledges within colorful caverns, give witness to the earlier vitality of this place. The Navajos arrived in the area sometime before the eighteenth century. Even today, a small enclave of Navajo families live in modern dwellings on the canyon floor, tend sheep, and grow crops. The rug room at the Hubbell Trading Post rivals any museum collection in the world. If youre in the market for a Navajo rug, this is an ideal place to shop. The knowledgeable salespeople will be happy to tell you about the patterns and weavers. The only modern day touch is that, along with the name of the weaver, youll also occasionally find a Polaroid photograph of the weaver attached to the ticket. You also can browse through exquisite jewelry, sandpaintings, books, and trinkets or even pick up food supplies if you plan to camp in the area. Groceries are sold in the front room. This chapter from the DayTrips series describes many fascinating, exciting, and many free of charge things to do, most within a two hour drive of Flagstaff. Each Day Trip includes destination highlights, places to visit along the way, choice restaurants and lodging, and shopping.

Canyon de Chelly is quite unlike Monument Valley. Birthstone Jewelry from Dazzling Garnet to Sky
Birthstone Jewelry from Dazzling Garnet to Sky

The conception of birthstones can be traced back to the first century. It was believed that gemstones possessed virtues or cures. By assigning a specific gemstone to each month of the year, the power of that stone was released to those born in that month. In the early 1900s, the American National Association of Jewelers instituted a list of 12 gems that represented each month of the year:

Available in a variety of colors, garnets most popular color is vivid red. Ancient Egyptians believed garnet possessed powers to protect travelers and sustain good health. Known as the carbuncle stone during the Middle Ages, garnet is the official birthstone for January, as well as the recommended gem for a 2nd wedding anniversary.

A long held favorite of kings and queens, the royal purple hues of amethyst are featured in the British Crown Jewels. From Egyptian rulers of old to Catherine the Great, the amethyst, which symbolizes piety, has long been believed to hold religious connections. The birthstone for February, the amethyst also represents the 6th wedding anniversary.

Inspired by the colors of the water aqua and the sea mare, aquamarine ranges in colors from light pale blue to blue green to deep blue. Its association with water has made it a good luck charm for sailors. Aquamarine is said to attract love and affection, as well as grant foresight. Serving as the birthstone for March, aquamarine is also a symbol for those celebrating their 19th wedding anniversary.

The most valued of gemstones, the history of the diamond can be traced back 2,500 years ago to India. Many believed diamonds to be magical, as they could not be burned by fire or cut by any known tool. It was first used as an engagement ring in 1477 by Archduke Maximilian of Austria, which continues today. The accepted birthstone for April, the diamond is also recommended for couples celebrating their 10th and 60th anniversaries.

Symbolizing rebirth and the arrival of spring, the emerald is the ideal birthstone for May. Emeralds have also been used as charms to ward off evil spirits, cure infertility, and bring about wealth. In addition to the May birthstone, emeralds are the recommended gem for couples celebrating their 20th and 35th wedding anniversaries.

Neither a rock nor a mineral, the pearl is a truly unique gemstone. Created by living mollusks, pearls are produced in a variety of lustrous colors, including white, cream, pink, purple, green, gray, and black. Representing chastity and purity, pearls are presented in many cultures as wedding gifts to ensure a blissful union. As the birthstone for June, the pearl is also recognized as the gift for couples celebrating 3rd and 30th wedding anniversaries.

Considered one of the most precious stones throughout history, the ruby is referenced in ancient biblical and Sanskrit writings. A symbol of courage, rubies were believed to make warriors invincible to their enemies. Imparting bravery and passion as a birthstone, the ruby is also recommended as the gem for the 15th and 40th wedding anniversaries.

Mined more than 3,500 years ago, peridot is a bright green gemstone believed to possess powers of success, peace and good luck. Called the gem of the sun by ancient Egyptians, peridot was believed to give off its own light. The stone has also been used to attract love and soothe nerves. As the accepted birthstone of August, perdiot is also gifted by couples celebrating their 16th wedding anniversary.

Sapphire, the ultimate blue stone, symbolizes truth, faithfulness and remembrance. Some believe God printed the Ten Commandments on tablets of sapphire, making it the most sacred of all stones. It has been the choice of many kings, high priests, and other royalty throughout the ages. The sapphire is also the choice gemstone for those born in September, as well as couples celebrating their 5th and 45th wedding anniversaries.

The opal holds many myths and legends, including the belief that the opal was first formed from the tears of joy shed by Zeus after defeating the Titans. In the Middle East, opals were thought to fall from flashes of lightning, creating the stones fiery iridescence. Symbolizing hope and purity, the opal is Octobers birthstone, as well as the gem used to commemorate a 14th wedding anniversary.

Associated with optimism and joy, the warm, the amber colored citrine stone rarely occurs in nature. Its hues are created by a heating process, creating colors ranging from bright yellow to gold, brown, or red. As the November birthstone, citrine is believed to create calm and mental balance. It also represents the gem for 13 years of marriage.

To the Greeks and Romans, topaz possessed the powers to increase strength and make the wearer invisible. Todays wearers believe topaz can protect against negative emotions and increase patience and fidelity. Topaz was displayed in ancient homes to radiate good health to families. As the December birthstone, topaz is also used to mark a 4th wedding anniversary.
